Two boys, an orphan and a fugitive slave join the Adams Rifles, a group of civilian spies working for the Union out of Gettysburg. Having become friends on the Antietam battlefield. the boys find that love and war can be rather tricky with danger lurking around every corner. Fortified by two young women who become their wives the two couples become a closs-knit family fighting racism as well as the Rebels.
